The death of Prof. dr. med. Rudolf WC Janzen, in his incomprehensible meaninglessness, is more than a shock. In Paris, on the occasion of an art-historical stay with friends, Rudolf WC Janzen, this wonderful man was struck down by a panicked crowd when watching a firework on July 14, 2019, the French National Day. He died immediately afterwards on 15 July in a neurological clinic in Paris as a result of his severe head injuries.

Rudolf W.C. Janzen was a special person and doctor who lived the ethical principles under which we physicians once started our studies in all personal modesty. For us and all, his friends and colleagues, who knew him more closely, he was and is the model that exemplified the purpose of a doctor and humanist during his professional years beyond retirement with his patients, colleagues and family.
